Being a nurse myself, I have access to dry clinical tomes, but they can be even worse and to be quite honest, neuro isn't my specialty anyway.
I had pretty much no symptoms before being diagnosed with my large orange sized tumour in the posterior fossa. I only had a history of slowly worsening headaches since childhood. It took 2 craniotomies to get rid of IT properly and now (post surgery), I have hearing loss, tinnitus, facial partial numbness (I'd say it will eventually resolve), balance issue and bone missing behind my ear. Guess I'm happy to swap them for IT anyway though.Faybianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16026397509428272917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5230111765529644852.post-51076514694885371072012-06-08T16:52:34.272-06:002012-06-08T16:52:34.272-06:00Hi Christina,

I've been having serious headaches for months in the location of my craniotomy and my neurologist thinks a screw from my bone flap may have come loose. I had a craniotomy 17 yrs. ago to remove a golfball sized Cavernous hemangioma in my right temporal lobe which left me with some loss of my left peripheral vision as well as a seizure diorder (partial onset seizures) I also take trileptal as well as Depakote ER to help control them. Unfortunately even with those meds and the dozen or so other meds I've tried, my seizures are not completely controlled...the one thing that stops the seizures once they start and keeps them at bay is currently still not legal for me to use. I find it very difficult to explain to others what I feel during and after my seizures, yet you seem to capture the essence of it beautifully in your poem.
I haven't really met anybody who truly understands how this affects me, nice to know there are others out there who can relate...just sorry you have to. Best of luck to you.

Rick in NJR in NJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09814746171689506217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5230111765529644852.post-78763110114444688032011-06-08T14:08:49.708-06:002011-06-08T14:08:49.708-06:00Thanks Pamela! Due to the terrible headaches, daily seizures, and blockage of flow of nutrition through my brain caused by this rare disease I have lost my house, job, cars, spouse, daughter, and to top it all off I just lost the one person who was really being there for me as I always had her; my mother died of Lung Cancer this passed December!! I'm devastated and afraid this social security wait is going to be the Death of me!! I am terrible afraid and have so much I've yet to accomplish due to this frightening and Rare Disease that no-one seems to Understand. It's been the worse 3 years of my life. I was trying not to file for disability just because it's been very hard for me to accept but after be advised time and time again by Dr's to do so I'm now praying I'll get approved before I Die:(:(:(. I will keep you updated and appreciate your story it's been very inspiring and gives me hope for change, a better life, and wouldn't it be a miracle if you discovered the cure!! If I can get treatment before it's to late and get back to work I promise to start my own fund raising project and contribute all money I raise to Your Foundation I think your Awesome and feel blessed to have discovered someone with your insight to this RARE disease!!
